With a population of over 90 million, West Bengal is the fourth largest state in India. During the past year, it has experienced an impressive economic growth of 11%. Its ideal geographical location, with direct trade routes towards South-east Asia and the ASEAN countries, make West Bengal a strategically significant site for export-focussed companies.

Begal Investor Days in München

The current government has launched several initiatives to make the site even more attractive to foreign companies. The Indian communications agency Genesis has engaged the state’s global management marketing – the partner of KECK with a joint Indian company KECK GENESIS. KECK developed and organised the complete roadshow for Germany in Düsseldorf (05/09), Munich (07/09) and Stuttgart (08/09/2016).

A particular highlight of this series of events was the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich: Mamata Banerjee, chief minister of West Bengal since 2011, appeared in person. With her comprehensive reforms, she has contributed significantly to positive development within the region.

The Indian delegation was accompanied by several government representatives and companies from the state of West Bengal, who came to provide German companies with a closer look at India’s current economic situation and to create interest in potential business opportunities.
Professor Dr Bausback MdL, Bavarian Minister for Justice and Mario Ohoven, President of the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses, gave the opening speeches.

Thanks to meticulous planning of the process, technology and organisation, the event, the festive framework suitable for it, and the visitors received plenty of encouragement for further involvement in West Bengal.
